Holy Trinity Church, Strofilia

A masterpiece of ecclesiastical architecture, unique in the wider area of ​​North-central Evia, awaits us in the center of Strofylia. This is the church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1879 from striped stone. Inside, we admire the ornate wood-carved iconostasis, the work of the Mytilene sculptor, Ioannis Mylionis. Oral tradition tells us that Mylionis entered the church early in the morning to paint the iconostasis and left late at night, not allowing anyone to enter! Of course, some claim that the sculptor wanted an oka tsipouro every day, to “strengthen” himself and cope with his difficult work…
